APT offers a wide variety of vibration and shock analysis functions. These range from test input controls to response measurement. Data may be recorded or provided as in-house laboratory simulations. Field recording of process dependant applications or random environmental events such as those seen in handling and transportation can be made and analyzed.
Product testing in all areas of mechanical and environmental stimuli may be applied to help guide engineering design efforts or isolate damage causing attributes in controlled laboratory conditions.
Environmental or man-made dynamic events may be recorded and analyzed through the use of field data recorders and analyzers. These multi-function devices can isolate characteristic details of acceleration/ amplitude and frequency domain.
The capability of reproducing this vibration and shock stimuli exists in laboratory simulations to further study it on the effects on mechanisms.
Test data taken on computer controlled and response data acquisition equipment for vibration and shock can be recorded. This data may be stored and analyzed or summarized for later reporting uses.
The rotational shock/vibration in place at APT is truly a one-of-a-kind device. The machine is capable of shock as well as sine and random vibration. The table size is 10 inches diameter which allows for the axis of the HGA assembly of a disk drive to be placed directly over the axis of rotation while keeping the entire drive on the table. Fixturing is available to mount a drive in three axis for shock or vibration. This system has met disk drive manufactures strict cross axis specifications at inputs up to 40 krads for shock. This level has been achieved at 0.5, 1, 2 & 6 msecs. Sine and random testing has been performed from 10 to 2000 hertz.
