The Sun™ Advanced Product Testing (APT) Laboratory's RFID Test Center has the real-world testing capabilities to ensure that your RFID technology will withstand even the most strenuous conditions in both shipping and customer use. Beyond basic testing of all RFID equipment, the RFID Test Center can also expose RFID tagged products to extreme temperature and humidity, simulated vehicle transportation, and pallet stacking compression. In fact, it can simulate almost any conceivable climatic or dynamic environmental condition. |
RFID testing and consulting services |
Manufacturers need to ensure their RFID technology will meet compliance standards in real-world conditions. Whether you are new to RFID or an experienced user, the APT Lab’s RFID Test Center can provide valuable guidance. The APT Lab is a 40,000 sq. ft. facility with the ability to comprehensively evaluate RFID tags, readers, software, applications, printers, middleware, and systems in accordance with all major government, industry and retail standards and certifications. Capabilities include: • Low-speed and high-speed pallet conveyor systems. Conveyor speeds can reach 600 feet-per-minute. • RFID testing capabilities such as read range validation; mandate compliance; item, case, and pallet testing; portal/dock door testing; and, portable reader testing • Consulting services, including site analysis; optimized RFID tag, label, and packaging design and analysis; antenna selection and custom antenna fixtures; and tag placement analysis • Education and support services, including training and documentation |
Environmental testing services |
RFID technology drives benefits only when it performs in real-world situations. More than “clean-room” testing, APT Lab combines RFID evaluation with dynamic and climatic testing. Educational workshops and webinars |
The APT Lab offers a variety of RFID workshops, seminars and webinars. The RFID Hands on Workshop is offered on a quarterly basis. This interactive class focuses on small groups and allows the participants to experiment with the latest in RFID portable and stationary readers, antennas, printers and tags. Workshop participants will come away with a knowledge on how RFID can be successfully implemented in their companies. Additional RFID educational and training events in specific vertical markets such as pharmaceutical, cold chain, and asset tracking are scheduled throughout the year. |
End-to-end RFID solutions |
A series of RFID Industry Solutions that address the needs of customers in various industry verticals are available. Sun RFID Industry Solutions are supported by best-of-breed partners and provide a complete, end-to-end solution based on the collective knowledge of real-world deployments by Sun and its partners. • The Sun RFID Industry Solution for Warehouse Management provides a best practices guideline to build a RFID solution to improve warehouse management and automate advance shipment notification (ASN) processes in the manufacturing industry. • The Sun RFID Industry Solution for Physical Asset Tracking comprises Sun and Partner products and provides a complete, tested solution for non-networked physical asset tracking using RFID technology. The solution can be used to complement existing IT Asset Management solutions that track networked IT assets by using RFID to track assets that are disconnected from the network. • The Sun RFID Industry Solution for Drug Authentication brings together RFID and other key enterprise technologies, from Sun and partners, to build a complete drug authentication solution. The Industry Solution lays out a couple of different implementation approaches, to accommodate projects of different scope and size. |
