Prototyping

Whether your products are shipped by truck, train, ship or plane, the APT facility has a first-rate prototyping shop that can fabricate any type of package. StorageTek's APT engineers can assist you with all your prototyping needs such as corrugated, wood and cushioning materials. Our approach has developed into a 6 Step Procedure:

  • Define your shipping environment Understand what happens to your product in shipment by direct measurement.
  • Product Fragility Analysis Test your product to quantify its ruggedness.
  • Product Improvement Feedback If it is too fragile redesign it - resulting in more robust product that usually costs less overall.
  • Packaging Material Performance Evaluation Find the packaging materials that can do the job you need done.
  • Package Design Combine information about the environment, product ruggedness, and packaging material performance with cost and logistical information to form a product / package system design.
  • Test The Product / Package System Test the product / package system to ensure that all design goals have been met.

These testing protocols have evolved into ASTM, NIST, and ISTA standards that are now well accepted worldwide.
