Instron Testing

Tensile / Compression
Many items benefit from testing their ability to withstand tensile stress/strain measurements may be made to evaluate materials or compression forces. Our Instron testers can supply up to 20,000 pounds of tension or compression to metals, paper, plastics, fabrics, wire of all gauges, rubber, or any other specialized material.

APT possesses extensometers for precise readings of length changes. We have custom Instron jaws to handle fabrics or peel tests, and load cells capable of measuring minute as well as heavy forces.

Specifications:
Various ASTM and others

Equipment:
  • Instron Model 4505 with a 20,000 lb load cell and a mobile chamber with a range up to 400 degrees F and 20" per min ramp speed.
  • Instron Model 4502 with a 2000 lb load cell and a mobile chamber with a range up to 400 degrees F and 20 degrees per minute ramp speed.
  • Instron 1011 light duty
  • Custom Facilities manufactured by APT for Wire and Rope Testing
  • Custom Facilities manufactured by APT for temperature changes and/or vibration forces while tension/compression is being applied. Extensometers

Repetitive Cycle Testing
Fatigue in product structures results from repeated stress over the product's life. It can occur in metals, plastics, rubber, composites, or other materials. Causes include physical, temperature, chemical, or solar stresses. Due to the numerous sources of stresses causing fatigue failures, APT usually considers this class of test to be an extreme case of exposure compared to other tests that we perform. APT's personnel can assist in planning a program to uncover fatigue related problems in products of all types.

Specifications:
Various ASTM MIL-STD and others

Equipment:
All test facilities at APT can be utilized to create sources of fatigue in products. Call for a detailed discussion of your needs.
